Grab a cozy booth because soup’s on and pancakes are flipping at the Savory Dish, a new breakfast and lunch café that recently opened in Georgetown Square Shopping Center.

Joe Meyers of NAI Harding Dahm is a customer and a fan.

“The Philly Steak sandwich was excellent-they used real prime rib!” he said. “The chef really knows what he is doing.”

April Sue Landis, an area neighbor, said “I’ve been back twice already. Their breakfast items are excellent and you receive free coffee with every breakfast order. It is just what the neighborhood needed.”

The food is prepared from scratch each day by two certified chefs. In addition to their extensive breakfast and lunch menus, they offer daily specials such as a fish sandwich with a cup of soup or Turkey and mashed potatoes. The working crowd is catching on and is going in early for the “$2.99 Breakfast” that includes three eggs, toast and coffee.

Owner Hank Labrosse, a Fort Wayne native, began his restaurant training at the age of 13 at Hall’s Drive-In by the Roller Dome. Labrosse is a graduate of Ivy Tech Culinary School and has worked at Eddie Merlot’s, The Thirsty Camel, Baker Street and Tippecanoe Country Club.

Cooking is in his blood, he said. His grandfather was a chef on a battleship during World War II. He has a varied ethnic food background and loves preparing German, Greek, French, Italian, Polish and Mediterranean dishes.

Labrosse describes the Savory Dish as a comfortable place where workers, families or neighbors can meet. He describes the menu as comfort food made with fresh ingredients and a creative twist.

The other two owners are relatively new to the area but come with plenty of ideas and enthusiasm. Arturo Salgado came to IPFW on a tennis scholarship from Mexico City. He has a solid financial and business background and this is his first business venture in Fort Wayne.

Ivan Backes was a rancher in Southern Brazil and came to Fort Wayne through a farming program. He met Hank while taking culinary classes at Ivy Tech.

The Savory Dish is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you were hiring for servers??
I just need a couple
3 days maybe from like 10am till 2pm....
I have another job waitressing at
Richard's restraunt but they are only giving me 2 nights a week and I can barely
survive on that so I was just looking for a few days during the week and it is
very nice that you close at 2 pm then it doesn't interfere with my night job at
Richard's...
thank you!!
